Tackling the Energy Challenge Together Toolkit A toolkit for communities, local authorities, and schools on how to raise awareness or build capacity on sustainable energy issues.

Posters and stickers – Carbon Trust

Spread the message of a behaviour change campaign as wide as possible by promoting the campaign slogans through a variety of media.

Further description

People respond to messages in different ways. By using a wide range of communication methods the campaign can maximise its opportunity for changing the behaviour of as many people as possible. It can be fun and engaging to run a competition for the best slogan or poster, and then get the winning design manufactured to extend the life of the campaign.

Where can it be found

Carbon Trust

Devon County Council, Environment Group

How it has been used to date

The ‘Environmental Promoters’ were asked to use relevant parts of the checklist in their workspaces to identify ‘quick win’ opportunities to reduce energy consumption. “The tool provides a concise list of energy saving opportunities, which non-expert colleagues have used successfully.

User Experience

The tool contains a range of issues to identify, some of which are very technical. However, any issues which the user does not understand can be ignored.

Facilities Managers need to be included in the process if this tool is to be used, because there will be issues identified that need their input to rectify.

Target audience

Staff members with a responsibility for energy/resource management.
